Irina Zaretska lost her life in a horrific and shocking stabbing incident that happened on August 22 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Irina Zaretska who evaded the the Ukraine war and found safety in America had her life cut short in a gruesome manner.
The 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee was fatally stabbed to death on a train in Charlotte by a man identified as Decarlos Brown. The stabbing incident video released by the Charlotte Area Transit system has caused a wide tension around the world.
The clip which was edited to remove the spot of the stabbing captures the final moments before Ms Zarutska was ambushed on the Lynx Blue Line before 10 pm on August 22 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Dressed in her pizzeria uniform, Ms Zarutska boarded the light rail at 9:46 pm and sat down, scrolling on her phone. Behind her, 34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr waited. Four minutes later, he pulled out a folding knife and lunged forward, stabbing her three times, at least once in the neck.
Born on May 22, 2002 in Kyiv, Ukraine Iryna Zarutska was an emigrant from Ukraine. She alongside her mother, sister and brother escaped war in Ukraine and started a new life in United States. She graduated from Synergy College in Kyiv with a degree in Art and Restoration.
The Attorney General Pamela Bondi speaking about the incident said the attack was a direct result of failed soft-on-crime policies that put criminals before innocent people.
In his words; “Iryna Zarutska was a young woman living the American dream – her horrific murder is a direct result of failed soft-on-crime policies that put criminals before innocent people,”
“I have directed my attorneys to federally prosecute DeCarlos Brown Jr., a repeat violent offender with a history of violent crime, for murder. We will seek the maximum penalty for this unforgivable act of violence – he will never again see the light of day as a free man.”
Who Is DeCarlos Brown?
Decarlos Dejuan Brown Jr. 33-year-old is the man who brutally stabbed Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on the train.
He was released on CASHLESS BAIL a few months ago with a promise to appear at his next court date.
He has been federally charged with committing an act causing death on a mass transportation system. FBI Director Kash Patel & AG Pam Bondi say they are seeking the maximum penalty.
“We will seek the maximum penalty for this unforgivable act of violence — he will never again see the light of day as a free man”.
