Welp…we lost Matt Dumeyer .
Matt was one of those guys you didn’t forget.. opinionated, polarizing, and absolutely unafraid to tell you exactly what he thought. Our worlds overlapped years ago when I was active in the boating scene, and we shared a lot of mutual friends. I spent many many evenings with him at a buddy’s place on Harrods Creek.

He could be mercurial but we were always cool. And in his own way, he was remarkably consistent in that… he’d reach out to me, check in, and say hello in a way nobody else from those old circles ever did.

One of my favorite stories was when he told me he got himself banned from the car wash on 42 near River Road. Apparently “unlimited” washes meant 2–3 times a day was… too much. That black Altima really did always look like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

See you on the other side, amigo. Godspeed.

JK Mabry wrote on Facebook:- We met 15 years ago, at dusk, on the back 9 of Seneca. It was near the end of the golf season when the evening sky tries to fool you into thinking you have more time to play.

In general, I thought we had more time to play. I’m thankful for meeting you and playing tons of golf with you, especially these last two years. I’m thankful for the way you treated my boys and my wife. I’m thankful for the ways you pushed me to be better at life and golf.

I’m thankful that you put up with my weird creative side and my strange humor. You were always humming with energy and it always rubbed off on me. We made plans to play this Friday. I’ll be keeping the tee time for 2 people. @matt_dumeyer
