Information reaching our news desk has it that one the professional sports broadcaster in the world, Ben Arnett sadly passed away at the age of 43. According to the press release from KOMU, Ben died on Thursday this week (August 28, 2025).

It is with immense sadness that KOMU 8 shares the passing of our sports director, Ben Arnet, earlier today. A dedicated journalist, valued colleague, and beloved friend, Ben was treasured by our community. Our thoughts are with his family during this unimaginable time. We will share additional information as it becomes available.
His cause of death or circumstances surrounding his sad demise was noty disclosed to the public at the time of filing this report.
Ben touched a lot of lives at Mizzou & in Columbia – as a professor, an anchor at KOMU and a friendly face on SECN+ broadcasts. He was more than a professional Sports Broadcaster.
