Information reaching our news desk has it that Bernie Kerik, Former NYC Police Commissioner, has sadly passed away at the age of 69. According to a report online, Bernie died a couple of hours ago.
Circumstances surrounding his sad demise were not made known to the public at the time of filing this report, but multiple sources say he passed away after a brief illness.
Bernard Bailye Kerik, before his death, was an American consultant and former police officer who was the 40th Commissioner of the New York Police Department from 2000 to 2001.
He joined the New York City Police Department (NYPD) in 1986 and served from 1998 to 2000 as commissioner of the New York City Department of Corrections and from 2000–2001 as New York City Police Commissioner, during which he oversaw the police response to the September 11 attacks.
