Dear Watsonia Family

It is with a heavy heart that I write to let you know that we lost one of our own. Adam Burton has suddenly passed away on May 12, 2025, aged 53.

Burto’ was a larger-than-life character who never let the truth get in the way of a funny story.

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time. 2025 was the first year that Burto wasn’t part of the playing and/or coaching group, deciding to step away from the game after the A Grade Grand Final in 2024.

At our 50th celebrations last year, Burto was named in the Squad of the best 33 players ever to take the field at the Watsonia Baseball Club. He coached the club from 2015 to 2018, where he gained respect as a coach, but more importantly, the love of his Watsonia Family.

Who Was Adam Burton?

Adam Burton was a professional Australian baseball player who represented Australia at the 2000 Summer Olympics. He also played for the Melbourne Reds in the 1997-98 season.

In 2015 he joined Watsonia Baseball club after his amazing baseball career in Australia and overseas. He represented Australia in the 2000 Olympic games, the Baseball World Cup and the World Youth Series.

Adam spent time in the USA in the Atlanta Braves system and also played for both Brisbane and Melbroune.
