The Michigan soccer community is mourning the sad demise of Robert David Ruta , who unexpectedly passed away on the 16 of May 2025.
According to information made available online, Robert died in a tragic car accident in Georgia. The nature of the incident was not disclosed to the public at the time of filing this report.
The Michigan Referee Program,I n an official statement released today, confirmed the passing of Robert Ruta
The statement reads;
We mourn the heartbreaking loss of a beloved member of the Michigan Referee Association, “Robert Ruta”
Rob was a National Assistant referee whose passion for the game and adventurous spirit inspired everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Though Rob’s time with us was far too short, his impact on the game and our lives will last forever.
The Elite College soccer referees also confirmed the news of Robert’s death with a tribute made on their official Facebook page.
We send heartfelt condolences to Rob Ruta’s family and our entire officiating community. Rob was genuine, hard-working, and humble. We will continue to celebrate his contributions and honor our memories with him both on and off the pitch.
