Joshua Clover Death – UC Davis Professor & Writer Has Passed Away

Information reaching our news desk has it that Joshua Clover, who teaches critical and political theory in the departments of English and Comparative Literature at the University of California, has sadly passed away.

According to the source, the writer died today, April 28, 2025, but his cause of death or the circumstances surrounding his sad demise were not made known to he public at the time of filing this report.

A post made on Facebook by Jodi Dean confirmed the passing of Joshua.

The post reads; Devastated by the news of Joshua Clover’s death. He was a comrade and a close frenemy. We disagreed quite a bit on not insignificant questions. For years, he has been one of the voices I argue with in my head and sometimes in person. But he was there when it counted, from sending the perfect music when my daughter left home for college, to going above and beyond in supporting me when I was suspended last spring. I can’t believe he’s gone.

The School of Materialist Research also reacted to the death of Joshua Clover.

We are devastated to learn and inform you that our friend, colleague, and one of the most recent additions to the SMR faculty, Joshua Clover, has passed away. May his work and name not be forgotten. He was one of the great ones; they wrote on their Official Facebook page.

Who is Joshua Clover?

Joshua Clover is a prolific writer, author, and professor of English and comparative literature at the University of California (UC Davis.

He authored a couple of books which including Roadrunner (Duke University Press 2021), Riot Strike Riot: The New Era of Uprisings. Red Epic and many others.
